HOW LONG IS A COURSE?

Most trainees are employable as an entry-level welder in the 10 week, 300 hour MTCU approved program.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We will send course details, costs, upon request.

CAN I GET CERTIFIED AT THE END OF THE COURSE?
The answer is no, BUT, you can be tested and considered qualified to weld common joint designs. Please see the article "Qualification & Certification of welders" within our website.
In short, not all welders in the trade need to be certified. It is the responsibility of your employer to determine whether or not you need to be tested.

CAN I OBTAIN CUSTOMIZED TRAINING?
YES, our small class sizes permits us to custom tailor a training program designed to suit your present skill level, for upgrading purposes.

WHERE ARE COURSES AVAILABLE?
Located in Ennismore, 576 Robinson Road, just minutes north of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

WHAT IF I DON"T HAVE A CAR?
Nearby Peterborough is serviced by Greyhound bus lines. Arrangements can be made to pick you up at the bus terminal.

I LIVE TOO FAR AWAY, Where would I stay?
Our out of town trainees are invited to stay at our 5 bedroom rental house.

CAN I GET ANY FUNDING ASSISTANCE?
YES, if you are on an active Unemployment Insurance claim, most often you can get funding assistance to help cover all or a portion of the course costs.

I'M NOT ON AN E.I. CLAIM, WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

All major banks provide similar student lines of credit for training purposes.

WHAT ABOUT THEORY TRAINING?
Related theory is obtained by progressing through a self-paced home study program. A course outline is prepared for you; it is your responsibility to work through it on your own time. Assistance is available during hands on training classes.

WHAT ARE THE TRAINING HOURS
Classes run Monday through Thursday 8:30 to 4:30, 30 hours per week. We offer part time training on Friday afternoons and on Saturdays depending on demand.

WHEN CAN I START
Due to our constant intake, most trainees can start on any Monday, assuming a booth is available.

CAN I GET I GET HELP WRITING MY RESUME?
Our services include preparing and writing your resume.

DO I GET A DIPLOMA or certificate?
Yes, we also write a 1 to 2 page letter of recommendation for our trainees. When attached to your resume, it provides additional information about your skills. You also receive a transcript of your marks.

HOW DO I FIND MY FIRST JOB AS A WELDER?
In this fast paced society, it is important that you understand and utilize efficient job searching methods. We provide assistance in this regard. Job searching tips, and methods will be explained to you.

HOW LONG MIGHT IT TAKE TO GET A JOB?
Statistics continue to confirm that most entry-level welders can secure their first job in 2 to 4 weeks.

HOW MUCH CAN I EXPECT TO EARN?
An average starting wage is $17 to $19 per hour.

CAN I GET INTO A WELDER APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM?
The apprenticeship program for welders in Ontario has just been re-introduced. However, it will take some time for it to come into effect. As in the past, the best way to get into the trade is to get trained at a private facility.
